Tan Harry Tanoto, 45, former president director of then Sanex Steel, now Power Steel Mandiri, was found dead in room 2701 of Swissbel Hotel in Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon.
“The victim was found dead with three stab wounds,” head of the general crime sub-directorate at the Jakarta Police, Adj. Sr. Comr. Helmy Santika, said Friday as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
He said the police had arrested three suspected perpetrators; C, 30; A, 28, and T, 23. “The victim was stabbed in his stomach, waist and neck,” Helmy said.
Police suspected the murder was related to Rp 600 million (US$66,759) in fees Tan owed to debt collectors.
“According to the confession of the three suspects, they killed the victim because of unpaid debts he owed them,” Helmy said. (iwa)
