Stock of the new iPhone 4S smartphone sold out in less than an hour on Friday after being discounted by up to Rp 1 million (US$111) for the first 50 buyers.
PT XL Axiata launched the latest the Apple's smartphone at the XL Center in Jakarta.
The product, featuring a dual-core chip and a camera with a resolution of 1080 HD, is priced between Rp 7.9 million and Rp 10.4 million.
“At 9 a.m. the queue had reached 50 people, but the sales began at 10 a.m. When we opened the sale, [the iPhones] quickly sold out,” launch organizer Oki said Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The product was launched simultaneously in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Medan. (iwa)
