Police in Surakarta, Central Java have detained one of the men suspected of the recent rape on board a C01 minivan in Jakarta.
"The suspect was arrested while he was travelling," South Jakarta police chief detective Adj. Sr. Comr. Budi Irawan said on Thursday evening as quoted by tempo.co.
Budi declined to name the suspect or disclose the exact location and time of the arrest.
A student was gang-raped by six men while traveling in a public minivan in south Jakarta last Friday evening.
The assailants dumped her by the side of a railroad track in Kebayoran Lama after the attack.
The young woman, who is a student at a nursing school, said she was on her way home at 9 p.m. on Friday when she took the C01 minivan plying the Ciledug-Kebayoran Baru route. One of the rapists hit her on the back of her head, knocking her unconscious, before raping her. (dmr)
