The Cuban Embassy in Jakarta celebrated the 53rd anniversary of the Cuban revolution and the birthday of the country’s revolutionary hero, Jose Marti, in a humble yet warm party in Jakarta on Saturday.
“This date, Jan. 28, is very important for its multi-celebration. Today is our national day and the day when our hero, Jose Marti, was born,” Cuban Ambassador to Indonesia Enna Viant Valdes said at her residence in Jakarta.
Lucky guests who arrived early were treated to a Cuban documentary, Esencias, an inside look at children's theater group La Colmenita (The Little Beehive) which toured the US last year.
The tour was also to support the Cuban Five, considered by Havana as anti-terrorist fighters, who are currently imprisoned in US jails.
The movie was first broadcasted on state television Cubavision Internacional at around 3 p.m. Cuban time, or Saturday afternoon in Jakarta.
During the party, Valdes told The Jakarta Post that Cuba and Indonesia were on the way to improving and extending historical and excellent bilateral relations.
“We could build a more important exchange in agriculture because we have common challenges, such as how to fight against climate change or dengue – Cuba has enough experience to do that,” she said.
