A fire was reported at the official residence in east Ottawa of the Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Dienne Hardianti Moehario on Saturday afternoon local time.

Ottawa firefighters said, as quoted by www.ctvnews.ca, that they responded to a call at 740 Manor Avenue around 4:40 p.m. (4:40 a.m. on Sunday Jakarta time) after a candle sparked a fire in a basement bedroom.

A resident put out the fire by using a fire extinguisher and four adult men and one woman were rushed to hospital, Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Marc Messier said in his twitter account.

The fire is estimated to have caused US$50,000 in damages, the Canadian media reported.
