Man killed in Transjakarta bus crash

A man was hit and killed by a Transjakarta bus on Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan near the Pulomas bus shelter in East Jakarta, police say.
“The victim has been identified as Hendra Lesmana. He was 20 years old,” North Jakarta Traffic Police Accident Unit chief Daud Iskandar said Monday as quoted by tempo.co.
He explained that the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m., when the victim was trying to cross the road.
A pedestrian bridge is provided at every Transjakarta shelter.
The crash caused injuries to the victim’s face and head, as well as bruising to his body. He was rushed to Mediros Hospital in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, but could not be saved, the police said.
The police have arrested the driver of the bus. (awd/mtq)
