Former central bank senior deputy governor and now graft case suspect Miranda Swaray Goeltom said she had been asked regarding the lawmakers’ role behind her candidacy as central bank senior deputy governor back in 2004.

“The KPK investigators want to know whether the lawmakers had proactively offered me the post given huge compensation back then. They also asked questions about whether there was other parties who benefited from my candidacy and I said no to both questions,” Miranda commented on her first questioning session as suspect on Monday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Miranda had been summoned by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators in relation to Nunun Nurbaetie’s questioning process. Nunun had been charged as the one who distributed 480 traveler checks worth Rp 24 billion (US$ 2.6 million) to dozens of lawmakers in order to vote for Miranda as central bank senior deputy governor in 2004.
