The people tipped to run in Jakarta’s gubernatorial election in July keeps growing.
Add to the list Golkar Party member Fadel Muhammad, sacked as maritime affairs and fisheries minister during the President’s reshuffle last year, who says he is monitoring the party’s plans to nominate him as its candidate.
“I haven’t decided yet. Let’s see how things develop” Fadel said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The Golkar Party has been considering several people as its nominee for Jakarta’s top job, including incumbent Fauzi Bowo, who has not announced re-election plans; Prya Ramadani; Tantowi Yahya and Aziz Samsudin.
According to Fadel, Golkar will announce its nominee in February.
Model-cum-politician Wanda Hamidah, a member of the National Mandate Party (PAN), also plans to run for governor.
Others without political affiliation reportedly thinking about running for governor include economist Faisal Basri, local leader Biem Benjamin, Air Vice Marshall (ret.) Prayitno Ramelan and businessman Teddy Suratmadji.
