Comment: Bekasi workers block Cikarang toll road

Jan. 27, Online

Tens of thousands of Bekasi workers staged a rally on Friday, blocking the Jakarta — Cikarang toll road access to Bekasi from KM 21 to KM 26.

The workers protested the ruling issued by the Bandung State Administrative Court (PTUN) granting the Bekasi chapter of the Indonesian Employers Association’s (Apindo) lawsuit aimed at revoking the 2012 minimum wage set by the local administration on Thursday.

Your comments:

I believe the right action is to file an appeal at a higher court instead of blocking traffic just for a temper tantrum such as this.

At one point in time, we need to behave like civilized people.

I think the Association of Indonesian Employers (Apindo) must reconfirm its stance concerning the regional minimum wage that the governor has dealt with.

If the bickering continues, the sustainability of our economy will be affected and something bad is going to happen. Investors will be reluctant to invest in Indonesia. Sadly these disadvantages are for the
Indonesian people.

Workers of Bekasi, unite! And where has the Manpower and Transportation Minister Muhaimin Iskandar been hiding now?

There is no reason to let the workers cause thousands of innocent people who should freely use the toll road to suffer. I hardly think they would gain any simpathy from the public by acting like that.

It is the right time for public, who is disturbed by the violence, to file a criminal lawsuit against the West Java governor.

He is the one who provoked the workers to commit violence.
