Foreign tourist arrivals up by 12.47% in 2011: BPS

The Central Statistic Agency (BPS) said on Wednesday that 742,500 foreign tourists came into the country in Dec. 2011, up by 12.47 percent from the same period in 2010.
Compared to November 2011, foreign tourist arrivals went up by 10.63 percent in December.
In total, 7.65 million foreign tourists came to Indonesia throughout 2011, which was up by 9.24 percent from 2010.
Foreign exchange income from the tourism industry was estimated to be US$8.6 billion in 2011, 13.16 percent higher than that of 2010.
