Two associates of Muhammad Syarief, the Cirebon mosque suicide bomber, were sentenced to prison at separate trials at the Tangerang District Court on Wednesday.
Zulkifli Lubis was found guilty of terrorism and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment, while Saiful Mubaroq was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for participating in terrorism training.
Both sentences were less than the 10-year prison terms demanded by prosecutors.
I Madhe Suparta, the presiding judge at Zulkifli’s trial, said Zulkifli was guilty of aiding terrorists and buying, keeping and selling ammunition to alleged terrorists.
Zulkifli immediately rejected the verdict, saying “God is Great! This trial is cruelty!” as quoted by tempo.co. (iwa)
