DENPASAR: The Bali administration will establish a center for the elderly in an effort to provide the island’s senior citizens with better health services and beneficial activities, a senior official stated on Thursday.
The center will be built in East Denpasar and is slated to be opened next year.
Bali Social Welfare Agency head I Ketut Susrama said the center’s main role would be facilitating and organizing various activities for the island’s senior citizens.
“In the center, they can participate in meditation sessions, chat with their friends or have their health examined by attending physicians,” he said, adding that a health clinic offering free services would be an integral part of the center.
Life expectancy in the island has slightly increased to 70.7 years in 2011 from 70.6 years in the previous year.
