Transjakarta operators to challenge decree

JAKARTA: A group of Transjakarta rapid transit route operators will file for a judicial review of the Jakarta administration’s decree on the auction of operational rights along key routes.

Romulo Silaen, a lawyer representing a group of operators serving seven Transjakarta routes, said that his clients were planning to file the review at the Supreme Court before the end of the month.

“We are still making preparations for [our filing],” Romulo told The Jakarta Post. The review would be filed against Gubernatorial Decree No. 173/2010 on Transjakarta operator procurement procedures.

The operators have demanded that the Jakarta administration automatically extend their contracts after the expiration dates, without them having to enter new bids for the routes. The administration had yet to respond to their demands.
