West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Zainul Majdi, regents and mayors from across the province have signed an integrity pact for clean and good governance at the NTB gubernatorial office in Mataram.
“This is part of the regional leaders’ moral commitment to good governance,” said Zainul after signing the pact on Tuesday. The pact is also aimed at preventing leaders, officials and regional apparatus from irregularities that could lead to corruption and other actions that lead to legal violations.
Majdi also emphasized the importance of officials being prevented from partaking in various irregularities, be they in aspects of regulation or authority.
“Everything that could lead to irregularities in terms of regulation and authority should really be considered. Don’t give room for irregularities in regional administrations, so everything related with authority and regulation should be in accordance with the principles of obedience and responsibility,” he said.
Also in attendance at the event were Mataram Mayor Ahyar Abduh, West Lombok Regent Zaini Arony, Central Lombok Regent Suhaili FT, East Lombok Regent M Sukiman Azmy, North Lombok Regent Djohan Syamsu, West Sumbawa Regent Zulkifli Muhadli, Sumbawa Regent Jamaludin Malik, Dompu Regent Bambang, and a number of NTB provincial officials. The regents and mayors were accompanied by their deputies.
At the event Djohan Sjamsu said the pact would bind the commitment of regional leaders morally.
“In principle, without the pact, we in North Lombok are committed to managing the administration well. With the pact, it would be better as it binds our moral commitment as regional leaders,” he said.
According to him, his office will inform officials within the North Lombok regency administration to abide by the pact.
NTB provincial administration spokesman Lalu Moh Faozal said the signing of such an integrity pact was the first being carried out in the province.
“The integrity pact refers to the Administrative Reforms Minister’s circular on integrity pact implementation, which mandates the enforcement of clean and good governance,” he said.
Faozal added the pact covered the running of clean and good governance that was dignified, transparent, accountable, trustworthy and free from the practices of corruption, collusion and nepotism.
