The dossier for a lese-majeste case implicating sociologist George Junus Aditjondro has been sent to the Yogyakarta prosecutor’s office, police said.

“We are waiting for the prosecutor’s judgment,” Yogyakarta Police general crime chief Sr. Comr. Kris Erlangga said Tuesday at his office.

Investigators have questioned 10 witnesses, including Gadjah Mada University (UGM) law expert Edward Omar Sharif Hariej and Yogyakarta Language Center linguist Sri Nardiati.

George has been banned from leaving the country.

However, Yogyakarta Prosecutor legal information unit head Pramono Mulyo denied Kris’s statement, saying that the office had yet to receive notification of the commencement of an investigation [SPDP].

George was named a suspect for allegedly disrespecting the Yogyakarta Palace. He played upon the word “keraton”, the local name for the palace, saying that the word was an acronym for “kera yang ditonton” (monkey who has been watched) during a discussion at the UGM campus late last year.

George, who is a lecturer at the Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta, was expelled from his rented house by local people and was forced to move to Jakarta, tempo.co reported.
