Your comments on a statement made by the National Police, that say they
would arrest workers whose demonstrations block toll roads or create
public disruptions:
Worker of the world unite, please!

Yes, the best solution is a negotiation between the workers and the companies.
But if negotiation can’t solve the problem, I don’t know what will happen.
I hope it will finish soon. This problem negatively impacts so many unrelated parties.

I totally agree with the police. Democracy is not anarchy. You don’t just go ahead and do anything you want. If you do the crime, you do the time.

Protesting is not a crime. Indonesia will never be a true democracy until people have the right to protest.

It is an exaggerated measure by the police.

I think the police action to arrest workers’ protests blocking highways or creating a public disturbance is right because their activities affect people’s activities.

Anarchism should not be tolerated in any way. But arresting striking workers will create a new kind of freedom of speech ban in a democratic nation. Democracy is still clearly at stake.

I think the workers should not do these kinds of activities on the street. There are many other appropriate ways to express their disappointment.
I know that there must be valid reason for their action. Perhaps the workers got too low payment.
The employers should pay attention to welfare of their employees. If so, the demonstrations would not occur. Without employees you will not be a boss and you will get nothing done.

The National Police under Gen. Timur Pradopo’s leadership do not have self-confidence to carry out their duties.
It is not only that they are often too late or too slow. They don’t even seem to know what to do. One obvious example — the police do nothing amid the worsening noise pollution in the city caused by motorcycles. Sad!

Jail the workers whose demonstrations block toll roads.

It is the full right of laborers to confront employers and negotiate for better wages and working conditions. If no agreement could be reached, the laborers are legally entitled to go on strike, whereas employers, subject to certain conditions, could liquidate their business.
However, if the workers — as a result of the dispute — resort to unlawful measures like damaging private and public property, obstructing traffic, intimidating co-workers, the responsible authorities must take strong corrective actions to protect public interest and restore law and order.

Before the National Police arrest the demonstrators, they must know the cause and ask themselves why the workers are doing it.
