Three Malaysians deported from Lombok

MATARAM: The Mataram Immigration Office reportedly sent home three Malaysian nationals who were allegedly in violation of immigration regulations.

“The three have been deported over the past four days. They overstayed for a year,” immigration official Dorhan said on Tuesday.

The deportees were reported to be two women and a man, but the office refused to reveal their identities.

Dorhan said that the three had stayed in East Lombok, where they married local residents — former migrant workers in Malaysia.

Although they stayed in Lombok for over a year, the Malaysians did not have children, which made it easier to send them home.

According to Dorhan, between eight and nine deportation cases take place there every year.

“They are generally women who have relationships with male migrant workers. They are brought along when the workers return to Lombok, where they get married,” he said.
