The Central Kalimantan administration is planning to develop a 183-kilometer long railway tracks in 2013, spanning from Puruk Cahu of Murung Raya Regency to Bangkuang of South Barito Regency.
Central Kalimantan Governor Teras Narang said right now they were in phase where investors had submitted their project proposals to the administration. He said four investors were competing to win the tender for the project.
“In my calculation, the development of this project will take around a year and a half,” said Teras on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
The government chose to develop railways as other infrastructure like roads and rivers were inappropriate to support the administration’s ambition to develop the coal industry.(iwa)
