(JP/Wendra Ajistyatama)Nunun Nurbaeti, an alleged go-between accused of distributing bribes worth billions to dozens of lawmakers to swing the vote for Miranda Goeltom in the 2004 election for Bank Indonesia (BI) senior deputy governor, will go to trial soon as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has completed its investigation into her role in the case.

KPK investigators have completed the dossier on Nunun and submitted it to KPK prosecutors on Thursday.

The KPK summoned Nunun at noon Thursday to undergo final verification of the dossier.

Nunun, who arrived at the KPK office at about 11 a.m., verified her statements in the dossier and signed it.

KPK spokesperson confirmed this, saying that KPK prosecutors were now preparing the case.

“We are preparing the prosecution; we have 14 days to bring the case to the Jakarta Corruption Court,” KPK spokesperson Johan Budi told reporters on Thursday.

Nunun, the wife of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) lawmaker and former National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. (ret.) Adang Daradjatun, was expected to sign the dossier on Wednesday, but her lawyers claimed she was ill.

Nunun allegedly, through Arie Malangjudo -- another middleman -- distributed 480 traveler’s checks worth Rp 24 billion to at least 33 lawmakers overseeing finance in return for their vote in favor of Miranda, just after the lawmakers screened Miranda and two other candidates for the position in 2004.

Nunun insists she is innocent.

“I know nothing about the case,” she said when leaving the KPK building. She was taken back to her detention cell at the Pondok Bambu detention center.

Miranda, the former BI senior deputy governor, was recently named a suspect in the case.
