JAKARTA: The police say that they have recaptured two more of the 12 men who escaped a cell at the Cempaka Putih police precinct in Central Jakarta.

“The officers arrested Agus Pian at noon [Wednesday] at Palmerah market in Central Jakarta, while Aji Tri Mulyadi was arrested in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, late Tuesday,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Wednesday.

Agus had been detained on narcotics charges while Aji was arrested for allegedly counterfeiting rupiah, Rikwanto added.

Two other escapees, Agus Win Suprio and Suwardi, were recaptured on Tuesday, while eight men remain at large, including the breakout’s alleged masterminds, Ocky Inka Haryadi and Andre Julius.

The men made good their escape on Tuesday morning after sawing though the jail’s bathroom air vent bit by bit for a week.

Separately, Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Angesta Romano Yoyol said that Cempaka Putih precinct commander Comr. Adhie Santika might be removed from his post.

“We’ll see the results of the questioning. If negligence is proven to be an issue, he will be replaced,” Angesta said.
