A delegation of 17 students from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) will compete in the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) 2012 on Feb. 16-19.

The ITB delegates will represent Libya in the competition to be held at Boston Park Plaza Hotel, which will pit some of the brightest students from 35 countries.

HNMUN 2012 is an international simulation competition of UN’s session which gathers more than 3,000 students from prestigious universities such as Yale, Oxford, Stanford and the US Military Academy at West Point.

The competition is also a venue for students to exchange insights and learn negotiating through diplomatic means that are modeled after the official forum at the UN.

The delegates have to play a role as diplomat representing certain countries. Each delegate has to comprehend clearly on current international issues and propose solutions on those issues without sacrificing their countries’ interests. (han)
