KPK searches House Budget Committee rooms

A- A A+

Officers from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the rooms of several leaders and the secretariat of the House of Representatives’ Budget Committee on Friday morning.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi confirmed the search.

“[The search is related to] the Infrastructure Development Acceleration Program (DPID) case implicating committee member Wa Ode Nurhayati,” Johan said, as quoted by tempo.co.

KPK has detained Wa Ode Nurhayati, a lawmaker from the National Mandate Party (PAN) due to reports of suspicious activity in her bank accounts.

Previously, Wa Ode had been accused of receiving bribes from a businessman who had interests in the regional budget evaluation. Being accused of having received bribes, Wa Ode then pointed the finger at the committee’s leaders who, according to Wa Ode, were the powers behind many bribery cases that took place within the committee.
