M.Nasir: (tribunnews.com)The Law and Human Rights Ministry has replaced three top officials in its Jakarta office following recent finding of special treatment given to bribery defendant in the development of the 2011 SEA Games athletes’ village, Muhammad Nazaruddin.
Law and Human Rights Minister Amir Syamsuddin said his office had studied the CCTV footage at Cipinang Penitentiary and found irregularities.
“In response to the irregularities, the ministry has decided to take necessary action and evaluate the concerned officials,” Amir said at a media briefing on Sunday.
The replaced officials are head of the ministry’s Jakarta office, Tawin Tarib, head of the penitentiary division, Hafiluddin and Cipinang warden Suharman.
“We will soon pick replacements through a series of fit-and-proper tests by taking into account the candidates’ integrity and capacity,” Amir said.
The sanctions were imposed on the officials following an impromptu visit to Cipinang Penitentiary by Deputy Minister Denny Indrayana. During his late-night inspection, Denny discovered that Nazaruddin, former Democratic Party treasurer, was being visited by his brother, politician M. Nasir, and six others outside of official visiting hours.
