British Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell is scheduled to be in Indonesia from Monday to Thursday with bilateral partnership on forestry and climate change being high on his agenda.
The British Embassy in Jakarta said in a press statement on Monday that Mitchell would meet with several Indonesian ministers, businesses, experts and civil society groups during his Indonesian
visit.
He is also scheduled to visit East Kalimantan to “understand the threats of deforestation in Indonesia”, and a local timber producer to have its timber production certified as legal under a program supported by the British government.
“[Mitchell will] meet with local stakeholders to exchange views and underline the commitment of the UK government to working with its Indonesian partners in tackling climate change and deforestation,” the statement added.
