Guess what?: Sunni advised to keep hijabs

JAKARTA: Sunni, a girl band from Gresik, East Java, made up of all hijab-clad members, has been told to hang on to their headwear.

The group won the Boy-Girl Band Indonesia (BGBI) competition held by privately owned television station SCTV on Saturday, with 35 percent of the text message votes, beating Raise and Sugarfree who had 33 percent and 32 percent, respectively.

Singer Dewi Sandra gave Sunni the advice about their headscarves. “I have emphasized before, the jilbab that you are wearing is an identity as strong as the vocals and choreography in this competition,” she said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

 Sunni is comprised of eight members: Vida, Rina, Oya, Luli, Ayi’ and Dita.
