A member of the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD), Jamaluddin Hasyim, said the commission has been granted Rp 258 billion (US$28.7 million) to organize the upcoming gubernatorial elections.

“We have set the budget for various activities. We are now in the middle of promoting the event,” Jamaluddin told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Your comments:

If the governor thought more about the people instead of wasting all this money on elections, Indonesia would be developing a lot quicker. For this province, the cost to organize the gubernatorial election totals $28.7 million and there are another 32 provinces to waste more money on.

Hundreds of millions of dollars could be utilized for the health and education of the people.

The World Bank is coming to town and hopefully it knows how much of its money is being wasted on the kings, whereas nothing is going toward the real development of the nation.
