Text your say: Junkie pilots

A- A A+

Your comments on the arrest of a third Lion Air pilot for alleged drug use and safety concerns on the nation’s airline industry:

The industry may need to do more frequent random drug tests. Forget random tests.

Make them mandatory for all pilots every week.

It’s not just an embarrassment. It’s a serious safety concern as well.

Was every Lion Air pilot caught with drugs abandoned by his wife?

Pilots and co-pilots won’t eat the same meals as passengers to avoid stomach problems.

Let’s hope that at least one pilot is sober and able to control the aircraft for the sake of all those on board. Cross your fingers.

It is better to learn how to fly myself.

Indonesia has a lack of pilots. A pilot might handle the same number of flights that would be handled by five pilots elsewhere.

In order to keep himself fresh and awake, a pilot used drugs. Why didn’t he use vitamins instead?

This is an additional task for the Transportation Ministry. Drugs are common now. You can buy them easily and cheaply.

Drug users say that they usually just have a taste to help keep them flying. Why do these pilots need drugs to get high?

The arrested pilots were responsible for commercial aircraft that carried many passengers. If an accident occurred, it would result in a large number of fatalities.

The airlines must take stern action against the pilots.

They must be prohibited from flying aircraft. It would be better if the authorities regularly gave pilots urine tests to prevent accidents.
