JAKARTA: Two unidentified men robbed a gas station on Jl. Raya Condet, East Jakarta, early on Monday and made off with Rp 216 million (US$24,000) and a motorcycle that belonged to a customer after they shot the fuel station’s supervisor. The two men were arrested by the Jakarta Police on Monday afternoon.
The two men were at the station at about 3:30 a.m. and pointed a gun at the supervisor on duty, Sahut Siburian. They gashed his head with an iron bar and shot his left leg for refusing to hand over money.
The victim was in critical condition at the hospital, Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said as quoted by kompas.com.
Two other staff members at the fuel station attempted to help, but then backed away as the robbers threatened to shoot them. However, one of the staff members confiscated the engine key left hanging on the robbers’ motorcycle. The robbers then took the motorcycle of a customer, which was still in need of refuelling.
