Vocational school students assemble notebooks in Samarinda

TribunnewsStudents of state vocational high school SMK 7 in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, have assembled notebooks, LCD screens and PCs to be distributed to 50 schools in the province, an official said on Tuesday.
“We will look into the possibility of distributing the products made by the vocational high school to government offices in Samarinda,” Samarinda Education Agency head Harimurti WS said on Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Products made at the workshops of vocational high schools have stolen the limelight recently following the success of a vocational high school in Surakarta, Central Java, which assembled a locally made car known as Kiat Esemka.
The car is on its way to Jakarta to undergo a roadworthiness test at the thermodynamics, motor and propulsion system center at the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), the Industry Ministry and the Transportation Ministry said. (dmr)
