PEKANBARU: Three days of torrential rain has caused the Sebayang River to overflow, with waters up 1.5 meters from normal levels inundating 172 houses at Kampar Kiri district, Kampar regency.

The floods also affected land transportation to several villages and the waters were still rising on Tuesday.

No casualties have been reported.

District head Febrinaldi Tri Darmawan said that the affected houses were mostly located in Kuntu village, while houses in Domo village were generally spared as they were built a few meters above ground level.

“Some Domo residents have had to evacuate from the site,” he said.
