Police in Nganjuk, East Java, are investigating a case implicating a multiple killer, who has admitted using rat poison against 15 men, causing the deaths of four of them, apparently as a result of jealousy. Two men survived, while the fate of the others is still unknown.
Nganjuk precinct head Adj. Sr. Comr. Anggoro Sukartono said on Wednesday that Mujianto, 24, of Jatikapus village, Tarokan, Kediri, East Java, had admitted committing the crimes because he was jealous of his gay lover’s male friends.
Mujianto found out the names from his lover Joko’s cell phone contact list. He was suspicious that the 15 men had had intimate relationships with Joko.
“Today, he once again admitted before the media that he killed 15 men because he thought that they were having relationships with his lover, Joko,” Anggoro told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday, adding that the police were studying the suspect’s confession.
Multiple killings involving a jealous boyfriend are not unprecedented in Indonesia.
Very Idham Henyansyah, aka Ryan, was sentenced to death on April 6, 2009, following the murders of at least 10 people. Ryan robbed the victims before killing them and burying them in his parents’ yard in Jombang, East Java.
