North Aceh Police seized a truck carrying 2.1 tons of dried marijuana in Alue Buket Village, Lhoksukon, North Aceh on Wednesday morning.
North Aceh police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Farid BE said the seizure was made when on-duty traffic police officers pulled over a truck that was overtaking other vehicles in front of Lhoksukon high school at 8 a.m.
“After we searched the truck, we found a pile of gunny sacks containing marijuana and used tires,” Farid said Wednesday.
Police found 52 gunnysacks of dried marijuana in brick-sized packages.
The police confiscated the truck and its contents and arrested the driver, Slamet Bin Marto Harjono, 41, a resident of Sangkaran Bhakti, Blambangan Umpu, Way Kanan, Bandar Lampung and his assistant Hendrik Decky Ambadar, 21, a resident of Kalianda, Jepara, Central Java.
Slamet told the police officers that he was only a courier who had received the order to make the delivery from an unidentified man in Lampung. He said he had picked up the dried marijuana in Leupung, Aceh Besar, and was told to deliver it to South Lampung.
“We are still investigating the sender in Aceh and the one who made the order in Lampung,” said Farid as quoted by tempo.co. (iwa)
