Along with an Indonesia Embassy task force in Damascus, the Foreign Ministry has brought home 37 Indonesians that were caught in the midst of the ongoing conflict in Syria. The Indonesians comprised 19 students with their families, 17 housemaids and one child.

They are slated to arrive home today.

“Once they arrive, the 17 housemaids will receive further assistance from the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), while for the students, we will take them home if they aren't picked up by their families,” the ministry said in a written statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

This has been the ministry’s second evacuation operation since tension in the Middle Eastern state boiled over. The first batch comprised seven Indonesian housemaids who became caught up in the early stages of the conflict.(dic)
