State aircraft-maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) has signed agreements
with airline Nusantara Buana Air (NBA) to buy N219 commuter airplanes
in a contract worth US$120 million, the manufacturer said in a
statement.
PT DI president director Budi Santoso on Wednesday signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with NBA president director Laurens Prawira Nitimihardja at the Singapore Airshow.
The LoI was followed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by both firms and RTCom Investment Com Ltd, to finance the program, the statement sent to The Jakarta Post said.
Indonesian Industry Minister MS Hidayat, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan and Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan attended the signing.
NBA intends to purchase 20 N219s, with an option of buying 10 more. Both parties have agreed to create a team to discuss and negotiate all the technical and business aspects of the deal.
PT DI is currently developing the N219 and plans to manufacture the aircraft immediately after getting certification in the first quarter of 2014.
The plane can carry a maximum of 19 passengers and 3,000 kilograms of cargo, with a maximum range of 1,580 nautical miles (2,926 kilometers).
