JP/R. Berto WedhatamaJP/R. Berto WedhatamaProsecutors from the South Jakarta Prosecutors office demanded a 13-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp 10 billion (US$1.11 million) for former Citibank customer relationship senior manager Inong Malinda Dee, who was arrested for swindling up to Rp 17 billion from her customers’ accounts.

“The defendant has been convincingly proven guilty. Therefore, we demand that the panel of judges sentence the defendant to 13 years in prison and a Rp 10 billion fine,” prosecutor Tatang Sutarna read from the demand on Thursday.

Prosecutors also demanded that Malinda return all of her expensive cars, including two Ferraris, a Mercedez Benz sedan and a Toyota Fortuner – which she bought using her customers' money.

Malinda was deemed responsible for executing 117 bank transactions from 35 of her customers’ accounts without their knowledge. (swd/dic)
