BADUNG: Made Ayu Trisnadewi, a front liner with The Legian Hotel, won an international award after competing in an international receptionist competition held early this year in Prague, Czech Republic.
She took third place in International Receptionist Of The Year 2012, featuring candidates from 14 countries.
“It was a great experience for me. This is the biggest achievement I have ever had, and the best thing I have ever done for my country,” the 27-year- old said.
The International Receptionist of The Year competition is held annually by the Amicale Internationale des Sous Directeurs et Chefs de Réception des Grand Hôtels (AICR), an international association for deputy managers and front office managers of luxury hotels.
The top winner is bestowed with the David Campbell Trophy, named after the late Chef de Reception at The Ritz Hotel, Paris.
Campbell was known for his dedication and passion to the industry.
The top position went to Olga Velceva of Burj Al-Arab, Dubai, UAE and second position to Diane Lim of the Intercontinental Singapore.
“I’m very proud of this achievement. The competition was very tight. All the participants have great capabilities,” Trisnadewi said during the gala dinner organized by the competition’s organizing committee.
“From the beginning, I was very confident that I would be able to perform well, but I never imagined I would get into the top three.”
Trisnadewi was selected to represent Indonesia after defeating 25 candidates from all over the archipelago.
She added that the role-play scenario was the most memorable challenge in the international competition.
“In the role play session, I was tasked with attending the needs of a friendly old couple. It was a smooth affair at the beginning, but then I had to deal with something I had never imagined. The couple returned to my desk and complained that I had given them a room for handicap person,” she recalled.
