IMO view: Duping the public

One thing that makes human beings different from animals or machine is the conscience; we can think and judge whether something is good or bad, or worthy or not.
As a creature with such an ability, it is absolutely obvious that human beings can do and think outside of the box. This means that we can improvise according to the situation or conditions at hand and no one can control us except our own desire and mind.
Despite all of these things, we have to face a lot of injustice that has happened recently. Indonesia was shocked by the case of the Parliament office renovation, which cost Rp 20 billion (US$2.2 million).
Having been fascinated by such behavior, then the Indonesian people were shocked by the case of Sandal Jepit. It seemed that the National Police were far more interested in that case. They said, “The law is above all else and must be upheld in any circumstance.”
But when they face corruption cases involving high officials, they act slowly and always say that the case is not strong enough to take to the court. Most of the suspects were convicted, compared to others who were involved in simple theft cases.
In the Sandal Jepit case, the attorney of the court placed the blame on the police as the police forced them to sue AAL. Come on bro, we know the rules, Judges cannot bring the charges on someone based only on the police’s demand. Yet, they need evidence and witnesses so that the case will be strong enough in court. They talked as though the Indonesian people were fools.
Indonesian politicians and law enforcement officers don’t know shame, and are just like gangsters, and the only way to catch them is red-handed. Only Indonesians can solve these problems.
Hopefully, all of our leaders’ missteps can evoke a spirit of nationalism among Indonesia’s youth.
