The North Sumatra Police have removed a narcotics officer from his post for alleged drug use.

The officer was identified as North Sumatra Police narcotics division deputy chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Apriyanto Basuki Rahmat.

“He has temporarily been assigned to a non-active position at the North Sumatra Police headquarters,” North Sumatra Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Heru Prakoso said Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.

Raden said the reports of Apriyanto drug activities came from Ade Hendrawan, a waiter at the Paramount nightclub, where Apriyanto allegedly took ecstasy.

Ade has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking. (dic)
