Rudd resignation won’t affect RI – Australia relations: Marty

The resignation of Australia’s Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd will not affect diplomatic relations between the country and Indonesia, says Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa.

“This news will not affect the relationship between both countries,” Marty said at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Marty said that both countries had maintained a good relationship during Rudd’s tenure and that would not change after Rudd resignation, Antara reported.

Rudd announced his resignation on Wednesday, saying that he could not continue in his role without the support of Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. He said he planned to fly back to Australia on Thursday to sort out his future.
