National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) officers discovered the bodies of two girls, aged six and ten, at separate locations in the Cisadane river in Tangerang municipality on Thursday.

AntaraAntaraIt is believed that the bodies were of Dini and Zahra, who were reportedly swept away following the collapse of a bamboo bridge in Ciampea, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday.

“We cannot yet make sure that they are Dini and Zahra, but the… bodies resemble a ten-year old and a six-year old child,” Basarnas spokesman Ramli Prasetyo said at the Anak Langit community alongside the river.

Ramli said that the remains of one of the girls were found under a bridge near PT Tifico’s wastewater disposal at Kebon Nanas at 10:30 a.m, while the other was discovered downstream in the Tanjung Burung village, Teluknaga district, at about 10:45 a.m. The only items of clothing found on the girls were underwear.

According to Ramli, the search and rescue team faced difficulties following the Bogor bridge collapse due to heavy rain that strengthened the flow of the water in the river in recent days.

“The increasing water that flowed into the Cisadane River had hampered us from continuing the search,” he said.

Using five boats, Basarnas deployed 51 personnel to find the missing victims.

The bodies have been moved to the Tangerang General Hospital morgue for identification.
