Tribunnews.comTribunnews.comIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri inaugurated on Thursday the first class of its political course for members at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC) in Yogyakarta.

The course, which is held from Thursday to Wednesday next week, will be participated by 573 party members from across Indonesia.

The course comprises a four-day in-class training program and a three-day live-in program, which will be conducted in Yogyakarta and Klaten, Central Java.

“Members are required to live with local residents so that they will understand more about the social conditions,” Megawati said after the inauguration.

Megawati said that the course was also aimed at producing members who had strong ideology.

The course is slated to be held four times across the country this year.

Members who have passed the course will receive a certificate and will undergo an evaluation a year after to determine whether or not they have fulfilled the party’s qualification.

Party secretary-general Tjahyo Kumolo added that the members would also have to take psycho and urine tests.

“Should we find a member who tests positive for drugs, we will discharge him immediately,” he said. (swd)
