Soldier killed in Wamena clash

Jayapura: A soldier was stabbed to death on Wednesday as residents clashed at Sinagma market in Wamena in Jayawijaya, Papua on Wednesday.

Army Sgt. Major Bambang died from stab wounds and an arrow injury. “The victim was at the clash site as it was next to his boarding house,” Col. Ibnu Widodo, the chief of the Praja Wirayakti Regional Military Command, said.

Jayawijaya Deputy Regent John R. Banua was wounded after being hit by an arrow in the skirmish, while another soldier, Chief Sgt. Andi, was hit by a rock.
