Kerobokan chief warden out after riot

Office of the Law and Human Rights Ministry has replaced on Friday chief warden of troubled Kerobokan prison Bowo Nariwono following the two-day rioting at the penitentiary in Denpasar, Bali.

Bowo was replaced by Gusti Ngurah Wiratna, who previously head the Karangasem Penitentiary. The ministry also replaced Kerobokan Penitentiary’s chief security Anang Khuzaimi with chief security of Karangasem's children correctional facility, Wayan Agus Miardi.

“The handover ceremony was held at the (Kerobokan) chief warden’s official residence [this morning],” the ministry's Bali chapter spokesman Komang Gede Tri Utama Aria was quoted by kompas.com on Friday.

The ceremony was presided over by the ministry’s Director General of Penitentiary Sihabudin. (iwa)
