Scholarship available for every Jakartan: Fauzi

Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo has instructed all institutions under his administration in charge of distributing scholarships to reach out to more beneficiaries.
“In 2012, I don’t want to hear that there are still Jakarta residents who cannot go to school because they lack the money,” Fauzi said Friday.
Fauzi cited data from the Jakarta Scholarship Foundation showing that the administration had granted more than 11,400 scholarships, mostly to senior high school students and university students, last year.
“We continue to improve the education allocation from the administration budget. This year the education budget is Rp 9.78 trillion (US$1.1 billion), or 28.93 percent of the total city budget,” he was quoted as saying by tribunnews.com. (iwa)
