Chief suspect in hospital gang fight identified

The Jakarta Police revealed on Saturday the identity of one of three suspects in a deadly gang fight at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital on Thursday, which claimed two lives and left four others injured.

“[The suspects] include Edo,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said, referring to Edward Tupessy aka Edo Kiting.

The police have yet to reveal the identity of two other suspects, both identified only by their initial S, Edo is still at large.

Previously, Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Angesta Romano Yoyol had alleged that Edo was the mastermind behind the attack.

Angesta said that the brawl was triggered by drug-dealing issues and debts of Rp 320 million.

“Someone seeking the protection of one of the groups owes the money to the other group. Both groups know each other,” Angesta said as quoted by kompas.com. (swd)
