New aircraft to strengthen Garuda’s network

National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia received two aircraft; a Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (NG) and Airbus A330-200 at the Garuda Maintenance Facility in Cengkareng on Friday.
Both aircraft had just come directly from their respective factories in Seattle, US and Toulouse, France.
“The aircraft will strengthen both Garuda Indonesia’s domestic and international network in the ‘Quantum Leap’ program that will see a fleet of 154 aircraft by 2015,” the airline president director Emirsyah Satar said.
He also said that Garuda would receive 19 more aircraft this year; 3 Boeing 737-800 NG, 1 Airbus A330-200, 5 Bombardier CRJ 1000 NextGen,and 10 Airbus A320 for the airline’s strategic business unit Citilink.
Transportation Minister E.E Mangindaan welcomed the arrival of Garuda’s planes.
“As the national carrier, Garuda has been consistently improving its services. We are certain that Garuda will grow stronger, fly higher, and be able to compete with other major airlines in the world,” Mangindaan said. (nfo)
