SEMARANG: Political parties are obliged to be accountable when giving information to the public regarding financial reports and programs
EMARANG: Political parties are obliged to be accountable when giving information to the public regarding financial reports and programs.
The call was conveyed by the Central Java Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism Eradication and Investigation Committee (KPPKKN) through letters to nine political parties in the province, namely the Democratic Party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, the People Conscience Party, the Great Indonesia Movement Party, the National Mandate Party, the National Awakening Party, the Justice Prosperous Party, the Golkar Party and the United Development Party.
The program was aimed at promoting integrity, transparency and accountability of party finance, especially major parties in the Central Java legislature.
Central Java KPPKKN is concerned with preventing and eradicating corruption. The program commenced simultaneously on Tuesday in four provinces — Jakarta, Yogyakarta, South Sulawesi and Central Java.
“This is one of the ways to increase transparency and accountability of political party financing, improve party financial management and encourage the community to play an active role in supervising party funding,” said KPPKKN activist Eko Harianto in Semarang on Tuesday.
