Indonesia’s largest private lender, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, will add up to 3,000 ATMs this year, according to a company executive.

BCA executive director Jahja Setiatmadja said that the bank would add between 2,500 and 3,000 ATMs throughout the country, including machines for cash and non-cash transactions.

However, Jahja refused to mention the budget the company allocated to expand its number of ATMs.

“We will open a tender. We want the cheapest price,” he said Monday in Jakarta.

The expansion, he said, was aimed at reducing long queues at BCA ATMs.

“We don’t want to hear the ‘Bank Capek Antri’ [queuing bank] term anymore,” he said.

BCA currently has 8,500 ATMs across the country connected to 34,600 ATM Prima networks and 34,000 ATM Bersama networks, tempo.co reported. (swd)
