JAKARTA: PT Nissan Motor Indonesia plans to open 20 new outlets in Indonesia and boost its sales by 50 percent from 60,000 units in 2011 to 90,000 units by the end of the year
AKARTA: PT Nissan Motor Indonesia plans to open 20 new outlets in Indonesia and boost its sales by 50 percent from 60,000 units in 2011 to 90,000 units by the end of the year.
The second-largest automaker in Japan carried out a significant expansion in Indonesia in 2011 by increasing dealer outlets from 52 in 2010 to 73 in 2011. The plan was in line with Nissan’s intention of establishing 150 outlets by 2015.
“We will establish new outlets mostly in Java and Sumatra. But we will also open new outlets in Sulawesi and Kalimantan. The investment value for each dealer outlet is between Rp 20 billion (US$2.1 million) and Rp 30 billion,” said the vice president of national sales and promotion of Nissan Motor Indonesia, Teddy Irawan, on Tuesday.
With Indonesia’s total industry volume nearing 1 million units in 2012, Nissan projected they will reach a market share of 10 percent.
As reported earlier, Nissan Motor Company plans to expand its production capacity of its plant in Purwakarta, West Java, from its current 100,000 units to 250,000 units annually in 2012. The company has invested $400 million in expanding the plant.
