Agnes Monica (JP/Arief Suhardiman)Indonesian pop singer Agnes Monica, who successfully outshone teen idol Justin Bieber and controversial singer Lady Gaga at the 2012 Shorty Awards in New York recently, now has an even more ambitious target, a Grammy Award nomination.
Agnes, who currently serves as one of the judges for televised singing contest Indonesian Idol, was quoted by tribunnews.com as saying that she had “bigger dreams to pursue”. The former child star acknowledged that she is longing for her name to be written on a prestigious Grammy Award.
“My target is to win a Grammy. Just pray for me in making this dream come true,” she told reporters Thursday at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, having just arrived back in Indonesia after attending the Shorty Award ceremony in the US.
The 25-year-old Agnes won two categories for Best Singer and Best Fashion. The awards primarily honor influential people on social-media sites. (asa/dic)
